About ACE Fire Defense

Here is what you need to know.

Our mission is to help have certainty to defend what matters most in the event of approaching wildfire.

With minimal training here’s how to attach a fire hose to a fire hydrant, incorporating the use of a wye valve, and utilizing an adjustable hydrant wrench and fog spray nozzle, follow these steps:

1. Locate the fire hydrant and ensure it’s accessible and functioning properly.

2. Unroll the fire hose and lay it out between the hydrant and the area you need to protect.

3. Inspect the hose for any damage or blockages before attaching it. 4. Loosen the three inch cap on the fire hydrant. Connect the wye valve to the hydrant’s outlet, ensuring it’s securely fastened.

5. Attach one end of the fire hose to one of the wye valve outlets.

6. Attach the other end of the hose to the adjustable fog spray nozzle. 7. Open the hydrant’s valve to initiate the flow of water with your hydrant wrench. 8. Hold the adjustable fog spray nozzle securely and aim it at the embers flying in the wind preventing them from falling in a flammable tree, pile of dried leaves, or entering a vent on your home. (Cover all vents with a metal screen mesh in preparation)

9. Gradually squeeze the nozzle handle to control the water flow and adjust it to a fog spray setting for effective dispersal.

10. If needed, open the wye valve to allow water to flow through both outlets for additional hose connections. 11. Sweep the fog spray across the area with embers to extinguish them effectively.

12. Continue monitoring and spraying until the danger is under control. If the embers get into your eaves or vents leave immediately, evacuate.

Do not attempt to put out a structure fire. It’s too late. You must be prepared in advance with an evacuation strategy. We recommend to have all your important files on a thumb drive on your key chain, all important documents in a fire proof container ready to go.

Remember to adhere to safety guidelines and consult local authorities during wildfire situations.

It’s in serving each other we become free.
